How can I set up shipping costs (per customer)?
You can set up shipping costs based on parcel weights. Basically, you enter standard shipping costs that are adopted for every customer. If desired, you can then adjust the shipping costs per customer and per country.
Where do I find these settings?
Step 1: Navigate to the "Instellingen" (Settings) tile
Step 2: Among these menus, click "Verzendkosten" (Shipping costs)
Step 3: You're now in the menu where you can set up the shipping costs. The standard shipping cost settings are always shown here first.
Step 4: If you want to adjust the shipping costs for a specific customer, select the customer at "Klant" (Customer) at the top.
Standard shipping costs or per country
Standard shipping costs or per country
As soon as you set standard shipping costs, these shipping costs apply to all countries. You can optionally filter by country in the right-hand menu and enter the desired shipping costs per country. It's not mandatory to enter them for every country. Do you want all countries to be the same, but Belgium to have different shipping costs? Then you can do that by setting the shipping costs for Belgium separately only. The other countries then follow the "Standaard verzendkosten" (Standard shipping costs).
How should VAT on the shipping costs be calculated?
How should VAT on the shipping costs be calculated?
A fixed value
This means that VAT on the shipping costs is calculated as a fixed percentage of the shipping costs, regardless of the value or rate of the goods being shipped. This is a simple method and is often used in situations where the shipping rate doesn't change based on the value of the order.
The VAT rate of the shipping costs is equal to the highest amount of the (combined) order value
Here the VAT percentage is determined based on the items with the highest total value. If items with 21% VAT and items with 9% VAT have been added to the shopping cart, the system looks at which products have the largest share in the cart. If there are more items with 21% VAT than 9% VAT, 21% is also applied to the shipping costs.
How should the shipping costs of digital products be calculated?
How should the shipping costs of digital products be calculated?
With this you can indicate whether you want to add up the parcel weights of the products in the digital range to arrive at 1 parcel weight per supplier, or whether you want the parcel weight of the products to be calculated separately per supplier. This way you can determine per product range what the shipping costs should be. This prevents you from charging too little in shipping costs because the products within 1 order may come from different suppliers who each pass on shipping costs.
Calculating shipping cost tiers based on parcel weights
Calculating shipping cost tiers based on parcel weights
If you'd like to use shipping cost tiers based on the number of products ordered, you can do so by assigning parcel weights to the products and then entering the shipping costs based on tiers.
Example calculation
Suppose:
- You've assigned a parcel weight of "100" to the product "notebook" in the product list
- You've assigned a parcel weight of "200" to the product "power bank" in the product list
- You've assigned a parcel weight of "500" to the product "sweater" in the product list
So if you add 1 notebook, 1 power bank and 1 sweater to your shopping cart, the total parcel weight is 100 + 200 + 500 = 800.
Based on the example below, the shipping costs come to €8, because this value falls within the tier from 500 to 1000. So if you had ordered 2 sweaters, the total parcel value would be 1000, and €9 shipping costs would then be charged.
This way you can set up shipping costs flexibly.
